Aims & Objectives

The Trust’s aim is to promote awareness of the negative effect that acts of iconoclasm can have on culture. To this end, they require the following of the memorial:

  • The sculptural aspect of the memorial should itself be a work of art of considerable quality.
  • When viewed from a distance, the profile of the memorial should evoke the subject matter, visually relate well to the surroundings and be sufficiently interesting to encourage closer examination
  • Closer examination of the memorial should inform and be thought provoking, particularly with regard to the historical context and the relationship with the locality.
  • The memorial should be accessible to all, including those with disabilities
  • Financial provision should be made for the maintenance of the memorial in perpetuity
